WHAT IS IN A NAME?

Sit Back | Relax Events was first spoken out loud as the answer to a question. But before we tell you the question and the answer that led to everything, let us share with you an industry secret.

If you are reading this post, you may have seen some Hallmark Movies, where almost every female lead is an event planner, about to make it big in the city, if she can just nail this party for a big client (and win the guy). You may have also seen “The Wedding Planner” with Jennifer Lopez and have wondered to yourself what does your first dance song or potential first dance song say about the shelf life of your marriage?

And if you are still reading this blog, you probably looked at these various portrayals and thought to yourself, “how glamorous,” “how amazing to be doing something so creative,” “they must have so much fun”, and “what an exciting life they must lead.”

And don’t get us wrong. Events are glamorous. Events are amazingly creative. Events are a ton of fun. And Events are exciting. But, events are also a LOT of work. For each beautiful moment in an event, let’s use the processional at a Wedding as an example, there are so many different moving parts. From the music, to the timing, to the order, to the overall look of every single person walking down the aisle, it takes a lot of logistics and effort to make it seamless.

And that’s where we come in. We’ve been in the industry for awhile, in various roles, before we had an idea of what we wanted to do but were in need of a name. And it all stemmed from a meeting with a client. We asked her, “What would make you feel like the event was a success?” Her answer, “That her daughter (the bride) and future son-in-law had a perfect wedding day, and that she could be a part of it all and sit back and relax.”

And that is where our company name was formed. It was with this idea that we created our mission statement, “With meticulous attention to detail and an eye for design, we will coordinate events that allow our clients to Sit Back | Relax | Enjoy”
